Greetings from National Public School Mysore Road

Let us be thankful to Dr K P Gopalakrishna, Chairman, NPS Group of Institutions and M/S Chaitra Education Trust for gifting the people of Mysore Road area a New Generation School. It is one more chain in the NETWORK of NPS headed by Dr K P Gopalakrishna, who is a great institution builder and a visionary educationist.

Children are the gift of the Almighty. They are our hope and it is our desire that they should become good human beings and successful in their life. To achieve this goal , we sacrifice everything and search for a good school.

It is important to remember that children are little beings not inanimate objects; not little vessels to be filled to the brim with academic knowledge. Little beings who need to be able to develop as fulfilled persons. Now teachers and parents are in the privileged position of developing our young ones and all that implies.

We live in a time of rapid change -- change that is often not predictable, and not always positive. The best way to manage change, whether positive or negative, is to anticipate it and prepare for it. On the basis of our experience as an observer and a practitioner - that now spans more than sixty one years - we have come to the conclusion that there is no greater form of preparation for change than education. We also think that there is no better investment that the individual, parents, and the nation can make - an investment in education of the highest possible quality.

Our aim is not only teach the time tested skills of reading, writing, and mathematics, which remain important, but all round development of the child , imbibing our culture and tradition

There are two more dimensions of education for the modern world about which we would like to make a mention.

The first relates to inquisitiveness, critical thinking, and problem solving. What students know is no longer the most important measure of the quality of education. The true test is the ability to engage with what they do not know, and to work out a solution.

The second dimension involves the ability to reach conclusions that constitute the basis for informed judgements. The ability to make judgements that are grounded in solid information, and employ careful analysis should be one of the most important goals for any educational endeavour. As students develop this capacity, they can begin to grapple with the most important and difficult step: to learn to place such judgements in an ethical framework. Therein lies the formation of the kind of social consciousness that our world so desperately needs.

Our aim is to prepare such individuals who will be successful in life and make their parents and teachers proud.
